My part in a 50-year Australian Journey
by Tom Lawson
An engineer by profession, this is an account of the author’s involvement in the Australian wastewater engineering industry during almost a half-century of considerable change, and during which the Australian population not only doubled, but community expectations increased greatly and technology advanced to meet these needs. Much of the new technology was imported from Europe and USA, but some innovations were developed here in Australia. During his time in this industry, the author worked both as a consultant and equipment supply contractor before developing three companies of his own from 1981.
The author was born in Scotland and came to Australia in 1972 after working for 6 years there in the water supply industry. He then moved from clean water to dirty, making a small contribution to keeping our waterways safe and clean. He made multiple technology-related visits to Europe (France, Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark), and also did some work in India and New Zealand.
