This is the journey of a young man who was raised in poverty and who was driven to achieve success in life. This drive directed him towards a new-found determination to rise above what his father called his destiny, the same unrelenting poverty in which he had been raised.
As soon as he turned eighteen, he enlisted in the Australian Regular Army, became a model soldier, and rose through the ranks to be commissioned from the ranks at the age of twenty-seven. His success in the army, and the training and experience he received, propelled him into the business world where he forged a successful career as a Turnaround Manager in a range of industries. His management style was shaped by his army training in leadership and a healthy dose of common sense. As his career in business flourished, he was appointed a Fellow of both the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Management.
This is a journey of discovery and lessons along the way. A story of a young man’s courage and determination, and how his army training was instrumental to his corporate success.
