in Australia and Ireland 1545-2024
by Bruce Flood
This is the story of 15 generations of the Flood family, beginning with Sir Thomas Fludd, knighted by Queen Elizabeth I in Kent England in 1564 to Major Francis Flood who went to Kilkenny with Cromwell’s army. The Protestant Floods then settled in Kilkenny for over 250 years.
In 1852, following the Irish Famine and the death of his father, Dr. Valentine Flood, a 18-year-old Frederick Flood sailed from Dublin to Hobart, Australia, where he married and had 15 children, the ancestors of the present-day Australian Flood family.
A memoir describing the fortunate life of the author, Bruce Flood, his wife and their descendants, mainly in Australia, concludes this book.
