The recollection and thoughts of Peter Abelson, who was a Moman Councillor in 1979-87 and 2012-17, and the Mayor of Mosman in 1983-85 and 2012-17.
Mosman Story: the Council and the Community tells the story of Mosman from its indigenous origins through to 2017 when the author retired from the Council, starting with an introduction to Mosman, its geography and its development. In subsequent chapters, the author discusses the major council events and issues from 1979 to 2017, when the author returned to Council becoming the first popularly elected Mayor. The final Chapter brings together the core constants, changes and challenges for the Council.
The core message of this Mosman Story is the enduring importance of the local community and council in our lives and Council’s core role in creating and sustaining the local community.
The author has been a member of the local Mosman community for 50 years and was part of the Council for 13 of those years.
