A History of Thomas Hattersley Rudd (1819-1873), scissorsmith of Sheffield, and his descendants. Thomas Hattersley Rudd began making scissors as the market for Sheffield scissors grew. His sons added cutlery, silver goods and finally surgical instruments.
Thomas Rudd and Sons remained in business for over one hundred years. Fourteen children were born to Thomas Hattersley Rudd. Some stayed in Sheffield, others went to Australia. This is their story and the story of the business.
